Television Telephone was a video installation for Onn/Of in Seattle. The concept is similar to the game of telephone where one whispers a word or phrase into someones ear and that person passes it on to the next person again and again. What comes out the other end is often nothing like the source material. I used a series of television monitors fed by one video source - a live camera feed. In between each monitor a new effect was added and passed to the next monitor. The room i was given contained this and was supplemented by audio reactive video synthesis patterns.
After the show, a friend asked me about the naked man and how it related to my piece. I had no idea what they were talking about. After further inquiry, it came to my attention that someone was apparently so overcome, he got naked (this was a public group show) and meditated or prayed in front of my installation.
This was one of the most sincere compliments I’ve received.
